Joel was born and raised in North Vancouver. After receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction in 2013, Joel headed off to Australia to pursue his legal education. Joel received his Juris Doctor with Honours in 2015 from Bond University and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2017.
Joel’s interest in the law started at a young age when he would tag along with his uncle, an experienced criminal lawyer, to various courts in the lower mainland. Many years later, Joel would go onto join his uncle as an articling student prior to finishing his articles with Hoogbruin & Company.
Joel has represented clients in both civil and criminal matters. He has appeared in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia. Since joining Hoogbruin & Company, Joel has focused primarily on representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases.
Outside of the office and courtroom, Joel enjoys playing hockey, golfing, fishing, guitar, and hiking the local mountains with his dogs. He has also served as volunteer coach for the North Vancouver Minor Hockey Association.
Joel is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
